Registered under the Associations and Societies Act of the Maldives on 22 December 2008, Democracy House  is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that aims at promoting a culture of democratic ideals and values in the Maldives and amongst its people.

Democracy House is an apolitical and a non-partisan organization that promotes democracy, freedoms, rights, and tolerance.

Democracy House plans to achieve the objectives mostly through educational initiatives. That would include research and publications, education, awareness, collaboration, empowerment and advocacy. In general, the idea of a think-tank with a strong push for education and awareness was conceived to plug the gap in the Maldivian communities as far as democratic literacy and political maturity is concerned.

Its membership is open for all democracy loving persons irrespective of their nationality, background, political affiliation, or other forms of affections. The membership is free, and association with Democracy House does not invite any fees or payments. The organization is run solely on donations.

Democracy House will work towards creating a meaningful platform for those who think seriously about the nation and seek a credible channel to contribute towards building democratic traditions and political maturity in the Maldives.
